Peter and Karoline Lawætz

Ceramics & Textiles

The love of nature, Japanese aesthetics and each other is the basis for the joint production of handicrafts from Peter and Karoline Lawætz's workshops. The collaboration has led to the production of various lamps, where the shape, glaze and surface of the ceramics from Peter's hand are combined with ecoprint from Karoline.

Peter's stoneware has a clear imprint of "handicraft". He continuously develops new techniques for decoration and unique glazes, typically based on naturally occurring Danish clay and ash.

Most of Peter's ceramics are of a certain size, because he has a penchant for surfaces that he can decorate. These could be dishes, vases or lamps, for example. He divides his working time between the ceramics workshop and the Novo Nordisk Foundation.

Karoline is fascinated by ecoprint (printing with plants), where she studies the interplay between fibers, colors and outlines of what nature gives her that day. It is the season and the current selection of plants that set the agenda, and she prints all year round. It turns into shawls, scarves and lamps in wool, silk or cotton.

Karoline previously worked as an independent consultant specializing in science and technology communication. She now works full time in the printing workshop, where she also conducts workshops and courses.

LAWÆTZ has an exhibition on the first floor of the Artists' Wing.
