In the heart of Odsherred lies Anneberg Kulturpark at the old psychiatric hospital in Nykøbing Sjælland. The hospital buildings contain lots of history and exciting architecture - and through guided tours, audio walks and exhibitions you can delve into the unique history of the place. The architecture forms the framework for an innovative psychiatric hospital, where a mini-society with self-sufficiency, crafts and an artist colony was created to give the patients a quality of life.
Psychiatric Museum
The Psychiatric Museum in Anneberg Kulturpark tells the story of the development of psychiatry in Denmark, with a special focus on treatment methods and life in the former psychiatric hospitals. The museum is located in the historic buildings that once housed patients, and offers a unique insight into the everyday lives of both staff and patients. Through exhibitions, historical tours and special tours with actors, the museum gives visitors a deeper understanding of the history of psychiatry and society's changing views on mental health.
Odsherred Cultural History Association
Odsherred Cultural History Association is an association that works to preserve and communicate Odsherred's rich cultural heritage. The association arranges lectures, exhibitions and guided tours that focus on the area's history from ancient times to modern times. With a strong local commitment, the association contributes to increasing awareness of and interest in Odsherred's cultural history among both residents and visitors.
